GoMini issue 1

I received the first issue of go mini, a new British publication dedicated to the new MINI. It has a number of interesting articles, including modified MINIs, an interview with the famous (in England) Jeremy Clarkson, and a look at some seriously upgraded MINIs produced to promote audio/video products made by Pioneer – these pics are from the article “in the boot is our biggest subwoofer … 5000W … four amps running it! It’s very heavy and we had to uprate the suspension”

Wow!

Until a US-based MINI-specific magazine appears, Go here to order a subscription to this magazine; the price is a reasonable £35 ($50-$60) for one year (six issues).

Snow delays return from Walt Disney World

QUESTION: What is Mickey Mouse favourite car?
ANSWER: A MINI (Minnie Mouse)!
A not-so-funny (thanks Joanne) reference to the DisneyWorld vacation that Margaret & I have finally returned from. We were away for a week, and should have returned on Saturday but the extreme weather here in the north east left us stranded in Washington DC for two days.
We just got home this evening – the main roads are clear but the back roads are dreadful. And we have a lot of digging out to do in the morning!

On the other hand, GBMINI looks very cute:

An unexpected visit to Washington DC

Flying back from Florida, we got as far as Washington DC then learned that Boston airport was snowed in and we could get no further – there was some snow in Washington, but further north was a serious storm! We decided to rent a car and tour the U.S. Capital, but we were dressed for Florida, not winter!

We also were unprepared for the confusing roads and heavy traffic, but we finally found parking at Arlington Cemetry:

From Arlington we took a trolley tour bus into the city – it avoided traffic and kept us warm (and took us to the Smithsonian Museums too):

We remained stranded for a couple of days, and visited Fort Washington and Delaware! Eventually Boston airport was cleared enough for us to fly home – of course when we got home, there was snow everywhere!
