Motor Trend: Hummer vs MINI Cooper!

After reading MotoringFile this morning, I grabbed a copy of Motor Trend magazine – the comparison is entertaining and well written (driving the H2 in downtown Chicago is like showing up with your float four days late for the Macy’s Thanksgiving Parade in Manhattan … imagine yourself zipping along Michigan Avenue [in the MINI] during rush hour, slipping between much bigger things, and tracking down the people responsible for the remake of “The Italian Job”)

I scanned the relevant pages for those that can’t get a copy of the magazine …

More Convertibles at MINI Peabody

I dropped by this afternoon to exchange a shirt, and saw more convertibles at MINI Peabody. There was a Chili Red and a Liquid Yellow, as well as the two new blues (Hyper Blue & Cool Blue) next to each other.

The Hot Orange (in the showroom) and British Racing Green (demo) were still there too, so MINI Peabody have had at least 8 convertibles so far – maybe 500 total for the USA so far? I guess we will see the sales figures at the end of the month …

Old Sturbridge Village

On our way back from Connecticut and the US Open Tennis we pass right by Old Sturbridge Village so we decided to stop and tour; it’s a re-creation of old USA with transferred old buildings, town layouts … We saw pigs, sunflowers and cows; we saw the Tin Smiths, The Coopers, and the Saw Mill:

There is a lot to see and it is a very peaceful & relaxing place, so we decided to stay the night. Initially we booked an old fashioned room which looked nice but was FREEZING cold; the building had a single heating system for every room, and it was off. So we switched to a more modern room with heat – much more comfortable, if less characterful!

In the morning, we returned to Old Sturbridge Village again, and saw more of the “living museum” before eventually heading home.
