Duck tears – I just can’t believe it

Posted on MINI2 tonight:
It is very sad for me to write this, but my father Edward, infamously known as MaxaMini has passed away … You all were very important to him, and the last years of his life were filled with many great adventures with many of you. He was so proud to be amongst your ranks and he was truly blessed with many fond memories of his time with you all. He will be missed but forever remembered …

I just cannot comprehend this loss. Ed contributed in so many ways to the MINI community that I am part of, famously paying for drinks in a pub during a MINI event, bringing antenna ducks for all MINIs at every event, and simply being a wonderful person to know.

Tonight, I don’t know what else to say.

Halibut Point State Park

This past weekend was wonderful hot weather (too hot it turned out!) and we decided to visit Halibut Point State Park, a nearby abandoned granite quarry in Rockport; the quarry pit now is filled with water (rain run-off) and the surrounding area is open as a park beside the ocean – we walked down to the ocean and along the many granite rocks once discarded from the quarry and now forming a “beach”. Elsewhere in the park are abandoned pieces of unfinished granite, probably discarded when a flaw was found in the rock:

MINI Manuals

Of course every MINI owner has read their Owners Manual – one is included with the car, and it is also available online at the MINIUSA Owners Lounge (direct links to each year no longer work, but I archived the 2005 and 2006 manuals)

Then there is the Unauthorized Owners Manual, which exists as a small booklet available at some dealerships, or can be downloaded; there is a copy on MotoringFile which I have mirrored here to avoid hurting Gabes bandwidth:

Update May 2006:
Here is a scan of the ’05+ Boost radio manual.
