Poor GBMINI#2 … six months and still waiting for a new owner … All shined up, with re-painted exterior trim; still a super MINI with JCW 210hp performance and a “kick ass” stereo system (as described by the MINI Peabody sales people) …
The return of SES
Soon after I got GBMINI#3, it threw the Service Engine Soon light a couple of times – apparently a bug with the automatic transmission interacting with the fault detection software.
At my first service, I refused a software update, having read of some negative side-effects (like “limp home”!); also GBMINI had not thrown any more faults.
Until today, that is …
Everything seems to be running correctly, so this is probably another spurious fault code – but of course I can’t be sure. Hopefully it will clear itself tomorrow; if not a trip to MINI Peabody will be needed, and I will probably have to get the software update.
Gloucesters Annual Fish Box Derby
Once a year, Gloucester closes a section of Rogers Street and stages a downhill race for kids in “fish box” cars; in the months prior there must be many hours of preparation work, because some of these cars are completely home made, beautifully decorated … “it’s not the winning, it’s the taking part” (though I’m not sure the non-winning kids agree!)
