Spoke too soon – snow!

Serves me right for saying “winter is easy this year” … yesterday we were hit with about 6″ of heavy wet snow; not too much when we got up (maybe 2″) but it kept going through much of the day …

At work, more and more snow as the day progressed:

It took me about 3/4 hour to clear the driveway when I got home, so that we could park our cars – GBMINI is not at all keen to climb over snowbanks!

60 then 30!

This past weekend we enjoyed un-seasonably warm temperatures around 60 degrees, with lots of sunshine too! Then today, we were reminded what winter in New England is supposed to be:

No big deal. Plowed roads (and even a plowed driveway at work, eventually), and 40 minutes of heavy snow shovelling to clear our driveway and paths at home, and we can pretend the snow never happened!

Aruba 2006

Last week, with Margarets USA passport finally arrived, we booked a last minute trip to Aruba to get some sun & warmth – although winter so far this year has been very easy (the fish pond is not frozen at all!)
We enjoyed a very lazy week on the beach and rarely left the hotel except to get food in an excellent nearby restaurant called Tango (they had fabulous steak and other meats, and a so-so live tango dance every hour; best of all was their “Tango crepe” dessert!).

Some pictures (though I didn’t take many on this trip):
