Stairs!

Another visit to Independence today, to find that all the framing is complete – and we have a staircase! Upstairs, all the bedrooms have been framed too, and we see the outline of the “media room”, although with double door access to the balcony, it’s going to be much too bright for a true home theater (I’m tempted to make it my office!):

Outside, the roof is complete, too (many sections and angles):

We saw our first wildlife back in the wetlands today, too – a Great Blue Heron (long way off but maximum zoom and cropped):

… and the roof is framed!

This morning we were alerted that there was a crane “flying trusses” to deliver the pre-assembled roof framing to our new home, so we headed over to watch. After lunch we returned, and the final structure of our new home was complete already!

With permission from the workers (who were getting their own lunch), we climbed their ladders and had our first view of upstairs – including finally a look out of what will be our master bedroom window, looking to the beautiful wetlands view behind:

Once this construction has been inspected and signed off, attention will focus on the interior with plumbing, electrics, heating/cooling; and then eventually the interior framing will become actual walls, while the exterior gets weather protected …
