Lovely weather today, finally, and the first pond lily has opened:
Plants love the rain
While we were in Florida, there was a solid week of heavy rain up here – 15″ fell (about 2 or 3 months worth!); but the plants all loved it, especially now with wam weather following … loads of fresh new growth everywhere. Here’s a few pics, including the amazing Broom, and a lot of healthy fish:
Bridgette likes this weather too – sunny with plants to shelter under!
Cape Ann Food Pantry “Empty Bowl”
Just before our flight to Florida, I helped once again with the Cape Ann Food Pantry Empty Bowl – this year 800 people visited and, including donations prior to the event, over $18,000 was raised!
The Empty Bowl tries to educate people to the plight of the “food insecure”, encouraging a donation in return for a decorated empty bowl, and a meal of soup & bread. The bowls are created by local artisans and decorated by them, by the public, or by local celebraties.
