Gloucester

As in previous years (2006, 2007, 2008), the Cape Ann Food Pantry had it’s annual Empty Bowl event yesterday, raising funds to support their mission of “Feeding People. Changing Lives”, but this year, we have a new name, “The Open Door”, and a new logo to match! Once again the event was well attended by volunteers and supporters that contributed to be able to select a decorated souvenir bowl to take home, and partake in bread & soup dinner to emphasize the limited food available to some people – it’s also a great social event.

To get from work to home, I go through Essex and follow route 133 towards Gloucester. When I reach route 128, I can take that for a couple miles, across the A Piatt Andrew Bridge, then head up 127 to home … or I can stay on 133, down to the coast road, across the Cut Bridge, and through Gloucester city center to home.
With the continuing bridge work causing delays on 128, I sometimes go the “long way round”, but today when I reached the Cut Bridge, it was just opening – so another delay (only a few minutes, time to switch off the engine and enjoy the view of the Atlantic Ocean & harbor!):

This morning’s gray, cool weather lost the battle with a strong mid-April sun, and we got sunshine and a bit of a warm-up … nice enough to take a walk round Goose Cove reservoir; and it’s completely full right now, so much that there’s a noisy lot of water running out of the overflow:
