Spain 2026: Antequera dolmens

When we previously visited Antequera I learned of the nearby Dolmens but they were not open; we weren’t able to get a train for our final journey so we rented a (big) vehicle and drove from Granada to Malaga via the Antequera Dolmens … the museum had a well created “animated” video of the construction of these stone structures, some 6000 years ago (older than Stonehenge!)

We completed our drive to Malaga, checked in to a hotel and took an evening walk which included excellent ice cream …

Spain 2026: Granada

Another quick / comfortable train journey from Cordoba to Granada, primarily so we could visit the Alhambra, somewhere we had to book tickets long in advance to get to visit. Alhambra is a huge complex of multiple palaces some place almost 800 years old, along with beautiful gardens and great views of the city due to its location above Granada …

Next morning we visited Basilica San Juan de Dios once again very full of excess!

We had planned to visit “Catedral de Granada” but there was a parade – so we watched the parade instead!

After the parade we were able to visit “Catedral de Granada“, a huge interior space with massive columns …

We finished our day with a walk in the city …

Spain 2026: Cordoba

A fast and comfortable train ride took us from Seville to Cordoba with an easy start exploring the narrow streets of the city, and the “Roman Bridge“; while much of the bridge is more recent I might imagine that some parts of it date back almost 2000 years …

Next morning we visited another “Alcázar de los Reyes Cristianos” though sadly this one only the gardens were open due to renovation/construction …

Next morning we visited the fascinating “Mosque-Cathedral Monumental Site of Córdoba” where an older mosque was taken over and converted to christianity without destroying all that was there before (and my photos lean more toward the older mosque styling!)
