MTTS’08 Rise and Shine at Pier 4

This morning, I headed early in to Boston to go to “Pier 4” … well, it turns out that I should have gone to Anthonys Pier 4, and not the Pier 4 that Google Maps knows! So after a few un-necessary trips back and forth through various Boston tunnels, and a helpful phone call from George, I arrived at the correct place and joined MANY other MINIs – I counted over TWO HUNDRED before we headed off for the rally!

Eventually, off to the cars, to be waved off by Rauno and escorted through Boston by city police – 200 MINIs head north east along pothole and traffic light ridden roads (I wonder if more than half made it to the end!):

MTTS’08 dinner and F1 Boston

Before heading over to F1 Boston for the MTTS’08 Boston Friday evening events, a group of us got together at Rock Bottom for dinner (which was great, except for the 45 minute wait for checks!)

Eventually (luckily missing a seriously heavy rain storm!) we headed over to F1 Boston – loads of MINI folks were there already, both owners and “important people” … like Rauno Aaltonen, and Todd and DB of White Roof Radio. The F1 Boston location was excellent, with space to chat, drink at the bar, eat snacks, drive go-karts, or simply spectate:

Well done MINI USA and R.A.Events for picking a great location and laying on an excellent event … I couldn’t believe when it was 11pm already and I had to leave!

MTTS’08 traffic and Quack Quack Jack

Back from a day and two evenings in Boston for MTTS’08, with 350 pictures to sift through – I’ve decided to sort & post multiple times as I work through them … so although it’s Saturday night, this happened on Friday evening (hence the datestamp!)

I left work early, fearing traffic in Boston, and headed down towards F1 Boston, the Friday evening event headquarters … predictably I hit traffic as I reached Boston (taking 1-3/4 hrs to do 35 miles); traffic heading north was stopped too – and I spotted the MTTS “truck” for a moment:

When I arrived at F1 Boston, by pure chance I met Mark (SPDinNY) bringing Quack Quack Jack, so QQJ spent today at MTTS too – and met Jim McDowell (and his daughter), among others:

Also, see this post where QQJ meets Rauno!
