COOPERS for CAREGIVERS – still successful!

A follow-up to the recent Coopers For Caregivers event. Deborah had organized the event to promote caregivers in the local community.
As well as the earlier article in the Hamilton Wenham Chronicle, there has now been coverage in the Ipswich Chronicle and the Gloucester Times:

We also had some nice feedback from caregivers that we had delivered to:
From Helen in Topsfield: I am still overwhelmed with your compliment to me as a care-giver. After 57 years of marriage I’m doing this because I still love him, always have, always will … to be recognized by total strangers was an anticipation beyond words. I take things out [of the gift basket] and look at them and tuck them back in so I can enjoy them all over again the next day.
From Dorothy in Ipswich: I have just unpacked the lovely box you and your group of “Coopers” delivered to me today; and was so delighted and surprised with all of the items that were included. I will be sitting down with my copy of Today’s Caregiver in just a little while; my husband, Robert, has just retired for the night so all is quiet. I have watered the plant, I will save the ribbons, I will enjoy the teas and cookies, I will take care to avoid a cold if I can (but feel good to know I am armed with Kleenex and Cough Drops). I’m looking forward to using my light, pens and key ring and will use the handy memo pad and will be having my candy treat tomorrow. I will cover myself up nicely with my new shawl, maybe some raw afternoon while I’m having my tea, and it will have a special place in my home. I thank you for all the good information you provided. I thank you for the very generous gift certificate from Shaws. What a lovely selection of items you included in the lovely box, which I will use for my hats!
I appreciate you and your organization so much – you have opened many doors to me: I don’t think I could do it with out all your help.
For all of this, I say a BIG “THANK YOU”.

COOPERS for CAREGIVERS – a great success!

Today went very well, with reasonable weather and excellent company. A total of 15 MINIs met at Beverly Hospital this morning, for a 9:30am breakfast and some speeches – a good breakfast was provided by the hospital, including bagels as well as bacon/sausage/egg/etc. Thanks!
Deborah introduced the special guests (those not driving MINIs!) and a special gift basket was presented to State Representative Mary Grant who is also a caregiver.

Next the MINIs headed out to deliver a total of 9 gift baskets to a selected caregiver in each of Beverly, Wenham, Hamilton, Manchester, Magnolia (Gloucester), Rockport, Essex, Ipswich and Topsfield. Special thanks to the Topsfield police for making our crossing of route 1 extremely easy!

A big thank you to all the participants 🙂

UPDATE: There’s also a video from Keith Polischuk:

COOPERS For CAREGIVERS tomorrow!

As mentioned earlier this week, I am leading a parade drive around the north shore tomorrow to promote the activities of caregivers … the 18 MINIs will be delivering a gift basket to a selected caregiver in each of 9 towns covered by Deborah, the “caregiver support specialist” that came up with the idea.
The gift baskets have been packed today by Margaret, my wife, and our neighbour Pat – they look very good and just squeeze into the MINI:

We have some local media coverage, attendance by Massachusetts dignitaries, and of course the MINIs to help draw attention to the event – we also have reasonable, dry but cool weather.
