MAMA event in Keene

Back from the first MAMA event, a loop covering about 90 miles in total, honored with wonderful fall weather and lots of fall colors in the trees. I totalled 336 miles door-to-door today, from meeting Keith, Diane, Eliot and Joe at the Mall Of New Hampshire, gathering with everyone in Keene, stopping in Stoddard, driving towards Walpole, and finally returning for food at the Rynborn in Keene …

Rear Fog upgrade details

Lots of confusion recently over the rear fog upgrade which I had installed last week.
I had the full six switch toggle panel installed in my car from new, so I only needed the programming – but most people need to buy the switch panel too, so here are some part numbers!

First – the part numbers are COMPLETE new toggle switch panels, not just a switch.
Second – if you have access to the MINI ETK program, you can look up the part numbers (your MINI parts person should be able to do this):

If you have “DSC” and front fogs, you need 61 31 6 917 993 (9/7/2004: p/n corrected!).
If you have “ASC” and front fogs, you need 61 31 6 917 989.
If you don’t have ASC/DSC but do have front fogs, you need 61 31 6 917 985 (but you will still have a gap where DSC/ASC is missing).
If you don’t have ASC/DSC or front fogs, you might want 61 31 6 917 983 (but then you will have two gaps).
If you worry about gaps – buy one of the two full panels … the extra switches will not harm your MINI.

Beware of switch panels ending 992, 988, 984 or 982 – these are the US spec parts which presumably do not have the rear fog switch!

Apparently LOTS of people want to know about rear fogs on our MINIs … web traffic after I posted this info (and links on other web sites) was triple the normal activity!
