GBMINI mpg spreadsheet

Spent a few minutes entering all my fill-up mileage data into Excel tonight, to produce a pretty chart of MPGs for GBMINI; fuel economy is currently averaging about 29, peaking to over 31 on a highway run at “sensible” steady speeds. It will be interesting to see what I get on the Mount Washington run next month.

Also enjoyed this UK MINI commercial, found from Gabe Bridgers excellent web site …

MINI Peabody rally

What a great day we had today … went to the MINI Peabody Rally; over 40 MINIs met up this morning, got slightly suspect rally directions, and cruised round the area for a couple of hours through some very pretty scenery (sorry no pics of the drive – too busy driving!)

After a few unplanned detours, everyone headed back to the dealership for free food & drinks, and discounted merchandise. Martin (the Manager) handed out some excellent trophies to the three “closest to correct drive time” MINI owners.

Many thanks to Keith for planning the route, and Martin and everyone else at MINI Peabody for organising the event.

Rear fog lights will come!

Interesting article in Autoweek today about rear fog lights for our US MINIs. Jack Pitney says “all U.S. Minis, new and used, will get rear fog lamps”.
This is an about turn from a Previous Autoweek article where Michael McHale said “We just don’t do it … No BMWs have them, either”. Except that the new 7 series does have them, even making a safety feature of their use as adaptive brake lights.
My own investigations have confirmed that if the six switch toggle panel is fitted, all the circuitry is present in the car, including the actual rear fog lights:

It is likely that one single bit of the “SA” configuration of the MINI (stored with other “KOMBI” data) is preventing the rear fog light function – we just need to find which bit it is!
