A new living room at 8002

Finally, after five years, we’ve replaced the living room furniture that came with 8002 when we bought it! The old stuff was OK, but now that we’re staying here for as much as 1/3rd of the year, it’s time to get better looking and more comfortable furniture …

Here’s a last look at the old furniture:

At lunchtime, we emptied everything (it’s being picked up by the Salvation Army tomorrow); and late afternoon, a Havertys’ truck arrived and two very efficient workers brought everything in and set it up …

And now, everything is new – two new reclining “loveseat” sofas, and three glass tables (we updated the TV entertainment center too, but that’s not visible); it didn’t take long for Chloe to decide the new seats were good!

We’ve been very impressed with Havertys’; good quality and choice of furniture, friendly non-pushy sales, fast (two day!) delivery, and tidy and helpful installers.

Development with a $12,000 oscilloscope!

At PG Trionic Inc, we recently purchased a new ($12,000) powerful oscilloscope, a tool that displays voltage waveforms, and helps to understand signals, timings, etc. This new ‘scope offers both the traditional (4) analog signals, and also 16 digital signals – right now I’m monitoring 7 signals on this new 48V bidirectional motor controller that we’re developing; a big advantage over our other “only 4 channel” ‘scopes is that I can now monitor both the control signals from the processor, and the resulting motor signals. The new ‘scope also offers a touch screen interface, one of the first on the market! While not as sophisticated as iPads/etc, it definitely makes some tasks easier …
