Silk Floss tree growth

A couple months ago, before we left 8002, I took pictures of the garden, including the Silk Floss tree that we grew from seed (see last years post). On our return, the Silk Floss tree has grown a lot; here’s my attempt to frame the picture the same:

Stepping back enough to see the whole tree, and close-up of the spikes on the trunk:

If it grows this much in two months, what’s it going to be like next summer?!

“Big Wiring”

I’ve done lots of wiring in my life … short wire links joining components together when I was a teenager, printed circuit board wiring at my various jobs, even power wiring run in walls and attics.
But I’ve never done wiring when the cables are inches thick, which is what is happening near 8002 at the moment, along the side of highway I-429. Over the last couple of months there’s been loads of activity as the masts were erected and prepared, and recently there’s been lots of helicopter activity.
I’d assumed that the helicopters were being used to check progress, but taking the time to go out and watch yesterday, I found that the helicopters are actually “installation tools”! Enjoy the video:

Amazing!
