Independence at Independence

Ready for Independence Day this year, we’ve put up a United States flag on our home. We had to buy quite a large flag!

Also, our Independence community had it’s Independence fireworks last night; perhaps less spectacular than those of nearby Disney, but better in many ways because we were so close to the display (which therefore included occasional showers of warm embers) – and there was no queueing to leave … Here’s a short video sample:

Lake Apopka North Shore Drive #2

Back in December, we drove along the Lake Apopka North Shore Drive and saw a number of Alligators and birds. Today, we returned – and saw more of the same!

Even without the animals, the area is beautiful; but then there are birds to see, and of course, Alligators; we saw at least 7 in one lake – but someone online claimed to have seen almost 30!

And here’s a short video, to prove that the Alligators do move, sometimes!

Breads, dips, and animals

If you like Indian style breads and flavorful dips, you really should go to Sanaa restaurant at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge; this “appetizer” really is enough for two to share for lunch – and as a bonus, you get a “safari” with animals outside the building in an area that provides fabulous views for the very expensive hotel rooms – but visitors get to view them for free:
