More secrets for MINI owners

The latest edition of Car and Driver magazine carries the second MINI “Secret Black Box” advert (see here for more about the first); the “Super Secret Decoder” can be used to hide all except a few letters in this image, revealing a website – but sorry once again I don’t want to ruin the surprise:

What’s particularly cool this time is that successful sleuthing leads you to the chance to get even more MINI “swag”!

  1. Thanks for the pic! My Car & Driver haven’t arrived in the mail yet. So I just put my decoder against the screen. But it was a tad big so I shrinked it down a bit voila, I ordered my toggle switch face.

  2. Though I doubt it, I wonder if these new switch lables will pass light through so the backlighting works. That’s ultimately why I never applied the originals. But I do like the original set of icons better!

  3. “Bang goes that “secret” – MF has blown”

Not sure what you mean by that. What was posted on MF was essentially “planted”. Look for more in the future.

  4. OK – that’s different … not sure why MINI USA would want to spoil the “challenge” of pursuing the message, but if they want to do so and spread it around, getting you to publish it is a sure way to succeed 🙂

Maybe they’ve noticed the upset people that never got their black box!

  5. or maybe they have noticed how lazy I am and that I have not made the effort required to seek out these coded ads. I wonder how many of the kits out there are actually being used or just sitting on the kitchen table like mine is. oh well. I’ll seek the ads out this weekend…. maybe 😉

  6. Yo Dan C… I’ll take it. I;ll even send you a MINI T when My company LTZMTOR.US gets going in November.

I had Todd Pearson make up a set of toggle labels in vinyl for me, because the paper ones weren’t wearing well. They might actually transmit a little bit more light, but the screened spots on the plastic retain their shape, so the backlit stickers are kind of cluttered. Kind of too bad. 😦
