What’s on my iPod?

It’s been a few years since I last did a list of music I listen to, and there’s probably twice as much on my iPod now as there was on my Keg back in mid 2005 – the iPod makes it so much easier to update, purchase music, etc …

  1. What, no Hawkwind? You’ve got a lot of late 70’s early 80’s new wave and alternative stuff, very impressive but no punk, not even The Clash. I saw Slade in there too, loved the band when I saw them in San Francisco in the early 70’s, great fun.

  2. Wow, quite the mix! The Captain & Tennille / Crystal Method transition must be a bit jarring, though. 😉

  3. Glad to see Gary Glitter in the list.

Trivia: An ex-drummer of Hawkwind lives in Brawley just a few streets away from me.

  4. No Tiger Lilies, Porcupine Tree, Moby Grape, Quicksilver, Tom Waits! But wait… It’s not possible … must have missed them… Let me go over the list again….. Nope…. OMG…. NO LED ZEPPLIN!!!!! How can there be a music list without LED ZEPPLIN??? The greatest RR band ever! OMG…. No HEDRIX! That’s it I’m outta here! Renee Zellwegger?… Renee Zellwegger?… and no Houses of the Holy, imagine that.

Otherwise nice list and at least you finally got iPodized. =;¬-

  5. A number of the curious artists are from compilations – Renee Zellwegger for example is from the sound track of “Chicago”; Captain & Tennille is from “The Casablanca Records Story”

  6. Don’t tell my hippie friends but I’m a big ABBA and Carpenters fan. Karen had a beautiful voice and on log trips [Boston to LA] it’s nice to have some mellow time. Tell me ya got some ZEP or at least some Dread Zepplin. Renee makes my skin crawl but she does have a kool hubby in one Jesse James.

  7. I have only 500-700 songs, all Zep there is, on my mini iPod at a time, here’s my question, how does Ian organize that much music?

  8. Glad to see you have Royksopp on your iPod – “and everywhere I go, there’s always something to remind me, of another place and time…”

    Cheers!
    Dave N

  9. Robert,
I don’t think I’ve ever listened to Led Zep enough to know if I’d want to buy any of their stuff. I was never interested in heavy stuff when young, I was a pop kid!

Organizing – mostly I leave my iPod on random play; if it picks something I don’t want today I skip; if it picks something extra good I exit random play and stay with that artist/album/whatever for a while.
