(and yes, I know it’s really “Danger”, but this isn’t very dangerous … and if you’re too young to know what I’m referring to, here’s a timely reminder)
This morning, GBMINI#5 reported it’s first warning – it gets quite excited with an audible signal, a graphic on the upper tach display and a text description on the NAV display! These messages clear after a while, but a “warning triangle” remains visible in the lower tach display:
It’s curious how I’ve used up all the washer fluid in just a week – either the R56 tank is incredibly small, or maybe MINI of Peabody didn’t check all fluids before delivering the car!
I believe it’s the latter. Mine has yet to empty and I’ve been using it constantly over the last 3-4 weeks.
You must have gotten one of the R56’s with a small washer fluid tank! We’ll have to fix that. Next time you are in, washer fluid is on me!

Hey Vin! Could I get you guys to buy Asseal BMW here in SoCal! I’m so over their lack of service!
Ian, small button on the left is for ? The graphic looks like a light bulb and a depiction of the tach. And what is that black dot just below the “8” all about?
Question about washer fluids in the frozen north… do you have to use any special stuff like anti freeze additives?
A little clock in the tach, how cute. Did they loose the one above the mirror?
Young Will Robinson, ah yes I remember watching that show with my kidz. Loved the robot. I actually was at a Saturday matinee and they had, if you remember him, Robby the Robot on stage during the intermission. They gave away a Schwinn Phantom I think.
Robert,
“small button on the left” is the dash lighting dimmer; you hold or push just like the large one to large of speedo in pre’07 MINIs.
Don’t know about the black dot – but it could be a brightness sensor like the one in the speedo on pre’07s.
Good quality washer fluid in winter here is rated to -20 or colder! But the heated washer jets are needed too.
The clock above mirror was lost on 2005+ MINIs – this display in tach is way better than the 2005/2006 solution of displaying (tiny) clock or trip on the speedo.
