The famous Man At Wheel Fishermen’s Memorial in Gloucester has been “the talk of the town” – indeed the talk of the State – recently, in a vote to choose the Massachusetts image to put on a new State quarter in an overwhelming decision “The Gloucester statue collected 109,817 votes, more than four times as many as the Lowell National Historic Park, which took second place“.
The weather was nice today, no snow and mid-50’s, so we headed down to Stacy Boulevard after lunch to admire the memorial; the Fisherman stands at his wheel, watching out for other fishermen at sea, never leaving his post …
