A long weekend in Georgia

With the COVID pandemic continuing, we canceled our summer trip to Europe and haven’t been away from home since our Las Vegas trip; so this past weekend we drove 500+ miles each way to north west Georgia, staying in a lovely rental with “mountain views”!

The view:

The nearest town is McKaysville, small with a couple restaurants and one supermarket – but it does have the interesting feature of being split down the middle by the Georgia / Tennessee state line!

We took a few scenic drives, which often included long hikes to waterfalls! Here’s lots of views, including fabulous Benton Falls (also here Toccoa River Rapids and Blue Ridge Lake):

The area, with all the hills, is quite wet and we had lots of rain – but it made for lots of mushrooms / toadstools on our walks!

I’d hoped to get some nice nighttime / star photos but most nights were cloudy (all that rain!); the one clear night had a half full moon spoiling the light – though accompanied by both Saturn and Jupiter made for a nice photo, and I took one picture in the other direction though no idea what direction / stars / constellations I included …
