Winter Garden Water Plant tour

Yesterday I (and 20+ others) had an interesting tour of one of Winter Gardens three water plants that provide drinking water to our city – we were told that between 4.5 million and 8 million gallons of water are used every day (varies by time of year), all pumped up 900ft or more from the Florida aquifer (which they described as a river under central Florida), along 223 miles of piping around the town!

We were told that the water quality coming up from underground is so good (tested many times each month) that there’s basically nothing needs to be done before its sent to homes – they add a “chlorine bleach” as that’s required by law.
