Before leaving Montgomery, we visited the Peace & Justice memorial, a quite tragic place “dedicated to the legacy of enslaved Black people …” with many too many panels listing the names of people lynched in USA even as recently as the 1950s! Too many names (and too many unknown people as well); we found a name from a town only a couple miles from where we live. Every one of the metal boxes represents one county in one state where at least one person was lynched …
It rained through this visit, which seemed very appropriate.
