30 years: Puffins and Canada

Margaret and I have now lived in USA for 30 years and to celebrate we’ve just completed a road trip up the east coast; we began the day with a pre-booked puffin tour – which was ok, though the puffins were almost all on the ocean so hard to spot between the waves! I needed my high-zoom camera for some of these photos …

We then drove on to our most northerly part of the trip, Lubek ME. The Canadian island Campobello Island is just across a bridge and we decided to walk(!) to Canada just because we could … going in to Canada we did immigration at the car window which was odd but quick. When we returned to USA immigration that took a while because there’s a separate pedestrian area that seems rarely used (we had to wait for computers to start up, for example!)

Next day we had a lot of rain, but returned to Campobello Island (and Canada) to visit the Roosevelt Cottage. Again of course, going through immigration both ways!

30 years: Acadia, Bar Harbor and Cadillac Mountain

Margaret and I have now lived in USA for 30 years and to celebrate we’ve just completed a road trip up the east coast; today we struggled to find parking in Acadia (avoid visiting at the weekend?), successfully parked in Bar Harbor (far from the center) and walked over low-tide “bridge” to the island, and ended the day driving up Cadillac Mountain for some nice views.
