White Mountains Water

We spent the weekend in the White Mountains region of New Hampshire – near Franconia and where MINIsOnTop happens at Mount Washington:

We stayed at the Attitash Grand Summit hotel:

Touring around, we stumbled on Jackson Falls on the Wild Cat river – very spectacular!

Later, we found more exciting water – but this was the result of a dam being partly opened in Berlin, NH – it’s been raining a lot in New England recently, and the river was up to the top of the dam!

Back to Seaworld and Disney

We had another trip to Disney … we returned to Seaworld and WOW it was busy! We also spent a day in Magic Kingdom with our neighbours Joanne & Earle, who happened to be down for the same week …

Pictures from Seaworld:

Then another day, we headed over to Space Mountain (in Disney Magic Kingdom) for a ride; it’s a roller coaster in the dark and Margaret doesn’t like it! Joanne wanted to ride Space Mountain but not on her own, and Earle doesn’t like it either. So Joanne and I rode the scary ride 🙂

We also did Splash Mountain (with Joanne well wrapped to keep her dry while the rest of us got soaked!); the Thunder Mountain roller coaster, and another performance of the Gloucester Docksiders:

A walk around the world

Over the weekend, we returned to the Captain Lord mansion in Kennebunkport for another birthday vacation:

We visited “Eartha” at DeLorme – a huge 42 foot diameter rotating model of the Earth, so big you have to see it on three floors!

It’s an incredible model, really making it clear just how small Europe and North America are, against the scale of the whole world – from the ground floor, you can’t even see those parts!
We also visited a couple of lighthouses, and a memorial to the Liberty Ships that were built in Portland, Maine during World War II …
