Vacation

We’re on our way to Florida for a long weekend, but flew via New York to meet MINI friend Robert and his wife Kittie, who themselves are visiting from California, around an art events where one of Kittie’s marvellous paintings I’d being exhibited.
We flew in late last night, and spent much of today touring, taking a subway down to Battery Park (from where you can see the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island), then walking downtown New York to see the Brooklyn Bridge and Ground Zero (which you mostly can’t see unless you pay $$$ to visit the gallery),

Still, we could have simply toured right where the hotel is! Almost next door is the beautiful Chrysler Building:

One highlight of staying at Captain Lord Mansion is their excellent breakfasts – and Sunday is best of all, with delicious sticky buns:

There is also some more healthy choices, like fruit, yoghurt, etc …

Today we headed a little further north in Maine, to just past Newcastle where we knew there is a pub with EXCELLENT food – King Eider’s Pub. I had Steak and Ale pie, and Margaret had real (ie: English style) sausages.
After lunch, we toured the area, finding water including this beach near Pine Point (cold winds off the water though – high below 40 today!):

And tonight, back at Captain Lord Mansion, we’re in a different room – the Excelsior (makes yesterdays bed seem small!) …
