A “mini break” in Brighton, staying at the Hotel Una:

Brighton has a lovely stone beach, and on our visit had spectacular waves from a storm off the coast (that arrived as we left!). Brighton Pier, offering Jellied Eels (yuk!) and 99s (yum!) which are a soft serve ice cream cone with chocolate flake:

One more thing in Brighton – the Royal Pavilion! An incredible building, styled like the Taj Mahal on the outside, and filled with Chinese style decoration inside (although sadly, they ban photographs inside!) … created for King George IV back in the late 1700’s …

Travelling south, we pass through pretty Godstone with it’s village green, duck pond, and lovely old houses!

 

The main reason for our trip to England was the “Decade Party” – Margaret’s parents are both 80 this year, brother Mark is 50, sister Kate is 40, and nephew Jude is 10! The party was held at Chris & Kate’s “new” home, just down the road from their current home in Heckington – and in need of some attention before they move in!

But behind the house is a “secret” and beautiful garden, made more so by the girls:

At the party, there was table football, pool, and lots and lots of food! And, a special cake to commemorate the “decades”:

Lots of family and some friends …
