Fund Raising at MINI of Peabody

Something I forgot to mention yesterday in the Spring Rally / Poker Run write-up … in addition to providing excellent fun & food for us, MINI of Peabody also raised $600 for the Jimmy Fund by collecting a minimum $20 donation and giving a Motoring Hearts grille badge as a thank you …

We also raised $600 for the Massachusetts Make-A-Wish foundation by selling more $25 MINIsOnTop raffle tickets, with help from Mary of Make-A-Wish; the MINI of Peabody donated JCW upgrade is most popular, having sold almost half the available tickets already – but the Herb Chambers MINI of Boston donated two year MINI Cooper lease is of more interest to people that don’t yet own a MINI …

MINI of Peabody Spring Rally

Todays MINI of Peabody Spring Rally went well and escaped with minimal poor weather – although the threat apparently kept 1/3 of the sign-ups away! The rest of us had great fun though. The route took MINIs north through Topsfield then east through Ipswich and out to the Atlantic coast, and back, collecting playing cards on the way (click here for the route out and the route back). Unfortunately with no navigator, and being the lead MINI for much of the drive, I only took a few “on route” pictures …

Back at MINI of Peabody, new Sales Manager Paul Taylor greeted returning MINIs and handed out the final playing card to each one; there was also food (with a long but fast moving queue, and excellent catering)

Finally it was prize time – a special prize for Debbie Rose (her birthday brand new MINI was undelayed too late to be delivered today) and everyone else got a prize too. Astonishingly (and not rigged in any way), I came back with a king high full-house which happened to be the winning hand! My prize of a(nother) Spa Detailing of GBMINI will be much appreciated!

Many thanks from me to everyone at MINI of Peabody that put this event on – almost all their staff were in and helping the event run smoothly (which it did), and well done Paul for putting together such a great “welcome” event from you to the MINI community 🙂

To quote from Azi Parvez:
Herb Chambers MINI of Boston is thrilled to be donating a MINI Cooper to MINIs on Top for the second year in a row. This year, a 2-year lease of a 2006 Solar Red MINI Cooper will be given to raise money for the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Massachusetts. The winner of the lease will be chosen by a raffle drawing (conducted under the auspices of the MINIsOnTop organizers) to occur on June 17, 2006 at the MINIsOnTop event. The terms provide for a 24 month – 10,000 miles/year lease, and do not include insurance, tax, title, or license fees. The winner must execute and terminate the lease at the Herb Chambers MINI of Boston location.

A maximum of 250 tickets will be sold for this prize, at $25 each – or buy 5 tickets for $100.
The drawing will take place at MINIsOnTop this summer, June 17 2006.
All proceeds from the raffle will be donated to The Make-A-Wish foundation of Massachusetts, our chosen charity for 2006.
Tickets will be available for purchase at Herb Chambers MINI of Boston, or you can contact me.

You can see the full list of MINIsOnTop sponsors on this webpage.
Details of the other raffle prize, a John Cooper Works upgrade for a MINI Cooper S, can be found here.
