Cobweb Clearing – a drive of four MINIs

Headed over to Krispy Kreme in Medford (where last years Big Dig Tunnel Run began) to meet a few MINIs and go driving on a Cobweb Clearing run organized by Pete on MINI2:

After coffee & donuts we headed south, over the Lenny Zakim bridge, through the Big Dig tunnels and down onto route 3; we reached the Scituate lighthouse (previously visited during Plymouth Bay or Bust) where a running repair was carried out on GBMINI#3’s loose grounding block (thanks Joe!) …

After admiring the ocean we continued south to Plymouth for lunch, and to admire Plymouth Rock and The Mayflower; then we enjoyed some twisty but pothole-filled roads in the Miles Standish state forest (there and back and there again in some parts, due to some roads being blocked off!). Finally we “drove” along Savery’s Avenue, the first divided highway in USA – it is not very long (any more!)

A good day, with rain only when driving – fun to be out and about with MINIs again 🙂

Lunch at Fuddruckers

Back from another lunchtime gathering planned by Jared (pezboy); this one at Fuddruckers; while snow put off a couple of people we still had Jared & Susan, Joe, Ivan & Norrine, Josh, Jayson, Chris, & me. Fuddruckers offers a good range of burgers (including buffalo & ostrich!) with a nearly endless choice of condiments; and milkshakes.

While we were at lunch, GBMINI#3 switched from a black to a white roof!

The journey home was interesting, as snow was falling quite heavily now and the roads were not yet well plowed, but it did give me a good workout with GBMINI#3 on the non-runflat tires and they performed admirably. When I got home I was surprised to find the front of GBMINI#3 heavily caked in snow – I had not realized it was falling that thickly (I brushed off one headlight before thinking to take the pic):
