Driving the Blue Ridge Parkway (Day 2)

Today, a later start (hooray!) and a very windy road to get to the Blue Ridge Parkway (which pretty well used up Margaret’s “twisty” allocation for the day!); soon after reaching the Parkway, we stopped at Moses Cone Manor, an amazing location for someone to put their home (in 3,600 acres!), with views like this!

After this stop, the Blue Ridge Parkway Tour planned a number of other stops, and a longish diversion for lunch – Margaret & I decided instead to drive our own way, getting to Roanoke somewhat earlier than the group and allowing some rest time; so, only GPMINI (and view) pictures …

The Continental Divide

A few years ago, during MINI takes the States, GPMINI & I crossed the “Continental Divide” – the imagined line down the continent determined by whether rain runs off Eastward or Westward; on the divide, all West rain goes West, and all East rain goes East (and never the twain?)

So … who knew, there’s more than one Continental Divide! And today we stumbled on another one – the Eastern Continental Divide:

I wonder where the rain goes that gets trapped between the Divides … down the Mississippi I suppose!
