Yes, I have no idea what the name of this beautiful bird is, but it’s visited a few times while we’ve been here, apparently hunting (Geckos?) in the gardens around 8002 …
Growth at 8002
Of course with lots of sunshine and rain, things grow here, but we really noticed it on this trip back; here’s a view of the front of 8002:

Compare the trees left and right, with this view from soon after we bought the house nearly 5 years ago:

In the back garden, plants that Margaret put in before we left earlier this year have grown well too – splindly but flowery plants by the pool, and an Orange tree – with a single Orange fruit; we’ll have to see if it ripens:
Indoors, my work test rigs have “grown” too – I have twice as many now, and we had to get new bigger (Ikea) shelving for them:

Lanai repair at 8002
Our pool is fully surrounded by a lanai, a metal frame covered in mesh, to keep the insects away – but over the years it’s developed some quite big holes and splits at the bottom (I think mostly caused by lawn maintenance). We decided to try repairing it ourselves, and it turned out successful!
Pulling out the old mesh is hard, and it’s a little tricky keeping the tension on the new mesh. If the tension is too much, it’s impossible to push the mesh and rubber in to the frame groove – but too little tension leaves the mesh untidy and sagging. Still, we are pleased with the result on this first panel.
