Uncurling leaves

Some time ago, we purchased this indoor plant from local Lowes; I was quite convinced that it was a plastic plant – the leaves felt plastic, and the gravel “soil” was GLUED in place! But Margaret was convinced it was real, and the plant proved her right by growing a number of new shoots, that are now uncurling leaves all the way along them – I have no idea what it’s called, but the new leaves are quite interesting as they uncurl over the last few days:

I suspect this plant will be too big for indoors, in a year or two!

So much rain!

Florida gets lots of rain in the summer, as moisture laden air from the Atlantic or Gulf meets – often in the center of Florida, and near to us. We’ve seen an inch or two added to the pool but now this week, we’ve had more than three inches and even after Margaret emptied some last night, the water now has reached the rim which I guess is as high as it can go!

Here was yesterday which added a couple of inches:

And now this evening, as high as it can fill!

Impressive!
