It might be officially “Fall”, but the garden is not ready yet – there’s one last flower on the Rose bush by the pond, and a few Fuchsia flowers among the berries on the plant against the deck …

Caterpillar Attack!
Working on the pond, I noticed one of the Mugo Pine “dwarf trees” looking very sick; looking closer, I saw it was covered in little Caterpillars, clearly having a major feast on the leaves!
Pat had some “kill” spray, which seemed to do the trick – they all started falling off. I’ll have to check again in a few days …
Fall, one week later
The “first tree to color” in Essex, one week later (compare with last weeks pictures):
Apart from this and a few other Trees, it’s mostly still green around Gloucester and Essex … for now.
