Was I right about the MC40?

MINI Peabody is apparently trying to sell their unwanted MC40 on eBay – see this link! I wonder how close to the $27,000 MSRP their reserve is … I wonder if it will sell? I took some close-up pics of the car recently when I visited MINI Peabody:

Personally, I think they should have made only 100 or so instead of the 1000 that they are planning; also the price should be about $25,000 … if this car sells, it will prove me wrong!

  1. I had a look at the MC40 when I stopped into MOP yesterday too. Cool auction, someone will get this car with NO WAITING. Maybe I should bid and cancel my order. 😉

  2. I wouldn’t worry about bidding high if you really wanted a MC40… there’s been reports from some other dealerships that the cars are just sitting on the lot with little to no intrest…
It’s cool MINI made the MC40, but it’s really not that special of a special edition..

  3. And in the end the bid got to $26,100 – a little higher than my prediction, but not up to the $27,449 sticker price.
I wonder if MINI USA will make all 1000?

  4. I think people don’t realistically want to run a car with all those graphics all the time. But they are magnetic right? The dealer should include pictures with them off.

  5. Josh, They are removeable – in fact the big “37” on the side is not fitted when the car is delivered from the factory.

  6. The only magnetic stickers are the #37 signs. The rest of them are very attached.
I purchased car #64 recently. The price is not unrealistic, if you add in all the options you are getting it as petty much on target. The best part is that the cars were not pre sold so you can get a really nicely prepared Mini without waiting until August /September for delivery (in Texas)

  7. Richard,
Thanks for clarifying the decals. Enjoy your new MINI – I am jealous of your red leather seats 🙂
