Sorry, nothing to do with MINIs, except that I found this link on CooperSpeed tonight; CooperSpeed does not have the massive number of users of NAM or MINI2 but there are some good and different threads there (another fave this week was this (sick) joke!
Anyway, the CooperSpeed thread took me to this web site announcing that there will be a movie version of The HitchHikers Guide To The Galaxy coming out next year! Fabulous news π
Anyone who knows me well will know that I am almost as much of a fan of THGTTG as I am of the MINI; I have heard the radio series, read the books, seen the play, watched the TV show, listened to the CDs and cassettes, watched the DVDs …
And I live at #42 π

I love the books also but thought the TV shows were really BAD.

Hmm.. I actually liked the TV series.
I know a lot of people did, as bad as The Prisoner was, and I never missed a show, I thought it was much better.
The best Bristish series were, IMHO, and maybe the best series of shows ever were, Faulty Towers, Benny Hill, Blackadder, Monty Python & Ab Fab…Maybe the best ever!
Mr. Bean was funny but a bit repetitive for my taste.
I also thought The Two Fat Ladies was a scream.
And of course The Saint and the Avengers…Mr’s Peel, where are you now???

The TV series has clear evidence of low budget 80s “special effects” … but the characters of Arthur Dent, Ford Prefect and Zaphod Beeblebrox are to me perfect.
In its way, “the book” is also a great character.
I wonder if the movie might be too full of special effects, and lacking in characters instead …
They talked about this for decades and even negotiated contracts at least once. Shame Douglas Adams won’t be around to actually see it on the screen.
You have to wonder if it will shatter all our fond memories though…
