  1. Wow, that is pretty fast if it has barely started and will be done by the 18th.

I never got to do all that because MOP called me a few months after my waiting began and said they had a car to my exact specs they could sell me. =)

  2. Wow…that is blazing fast! They must know who it’s for… 🙂
Let us know if it’s just as exciting (and nerve-wracking) each time. Of course at least you still have #2 to hold you over.

  3. Exactly Josh … there is of course some reluctance to let go of my current MINI too, so “excited and guilty” is more like the feeling!

With the first (black) MINI switching to my current one, I always knew the black was temporary so I had all the excitement and tension – this time it is a little muted. Plus the “worry” of what to do to customize the new one!

Today was the first time I called ASK MINI – interesting to discover that it is all completely automated now!

  4. That’s cool Ian. Always fun getting a new car. Even more so when you can track it like a Mini. What are your plans with your current GBMINI?

  5. My current GBMINI will just be traded in – I will take a big hit on it I know, but I cannot face dealing with private selling … hopefully the next owner will enjoy it as much as me 🙂

  6. I’m a day ahead of you, Ian – my next MCS is due to be finished on 2/17. It’s EB/B with Black stripes and the Automatic.

I’m going to try and sell my 2002 MCS at the suggestion of the dealer – I’ve never sold a car before but I’m going to give it a try. I’ve got about a month to go so there should be plenty of time to see how it goes.

Anybody that might be interested feel free to email me or PM me over on NAM.

  7. WOW that is fast!! The paddle automatic is gonna be just plain fun! Red should be the only MINI color, then I would have gotten a red/black instead of the PS/BK (best daily driver color). Lots of envy here.

  8. And have driven 800mi too boot!! This thread is about YOUR new automatic. So I didn’t want to gush all about how MY new cooper s with LSD and tranny ratios etc…bla …bla…

I did promise you a review. The 2005 does trully feel like a new car. Everything feels new and squeaky tight. Oops I said the squeaky word!!! Small creaking noise on rough roads from the center of the dash. I do like the new transmission ratios better. I know peaple will disagree, but I think the ratios are better suited to a small high reving performance engine. First gear is easier to ride (start off) out at a low rpm for the people who don’t care for the performance part???

Part 2 will be the LSD. I think 800 miles of going slow IS enough!!

  9. Visited Morristown(NJ)Mini on March 12 and built an MCS/blk/blk/prem pkg/arm rest. My build was much more inexpensive than anyting in stock. The Sls Mgr liked it. Said he was ordering it for inventory. I could buy it whenever I was ready, as long as he hadn’t sold it to someone else. I walked out without signing because I was still looking at three pre-owned ’05’s . For reasons of color, distance from home, unwanted options, I declined them all. On Mar 19 I went back and closed the deal on my build. Went to the website on Mar 21 or 22 and found my car was in production with a completion date of April 04. I should be taking delivery in mid to late April. Not too shabby considering the waits I hear about in other parts of the country. (BTW, was told because of demand, a Convertible would take ’til mid-June.) Will keep you posted.
    Hugh
