So when I called 1-866-ASK-MINI this morning, the message stated “vehicle production complete”.
Since I entered the order details in the (US east coast) afternoon of February 2nd, when it was already night at the MINI factory, it means that only about two weeks passed from order to built!
Now for fun, I visited the Wallenius Wilhelmsen tracking website this evening and entered GBMINI#3 VIN and what do I see:
According to WW, GBMINI#3 is already loaded on the TANCRED (picture from Ship Photos) ready to be brought over to USA!
Not only loaded, but it looks as if the Tancred has already set sail. GB#3 gets into NY on February 25th.
Congratulations Ian!
HOLY COW! That was fast! Hope it passes by fast enough for you!
That’s gotta be a record! Are you getting special treatment? 😉
Oh man! You’re killing me Ian. *GRIN*
I got a call from the dealership this morning and they told me that I can’t have my car even if it comes in. They have to work out the replacement details with the MINI USA field rep and that’s going to take a while I guess. They say that they can’t start the process until the replacement car arrives at the dealership. Heck! It might be mid March before I get my car. Oy!
Congrats on your speedy process though. That has to be a record for sure. My replacement car began production on 12/20/04, ended production on 01/09/05, sat on the S.H. docks until 01/21/05, and has been “in transit” ever since. I think you’ve gone from ordered to shipped in the same amount of time that it took for my MINI just to get built. Wow! 🙂
Wow! That was quick. I’m looking forward to the pictures. BTW, thanks for the brochure.
Angie,
As far as I know, I am not getting any special treatment – except that when I placed the order I was slotted in to the earliest open slot (which obviously was a very soon build!)
Presumably I just got lucky with everything 😉
Aw come on Ian, you’re getting the employee discount and special treatment as your MINI of Peabody office shot shows http://www.rknrll.net/rally/IMG_7422 .
Seriously, congrats on the quick delivery, like others I’m jealous! Driving into Somerville the other day I’m thinking how if I did that every day I’d go auto myself…..as much as I like driving a stick.
Will be curious to hear how you like your new wheels. What will you do w/ your present GBMINI, sell yourself or trade in?
Today 1-866-ASK-MINI says “your vehicle is at the port awaiting a shipping vessel” … ha!
No discount from MINI Peabody, hopefully I will get an OK trade-in on GBMINI#2. I don’t want to deal with private selling.
Ian–
Congrats on the new MCS. My baby came to the USA on the Tancred last year.

Congrats, JohnT … enjoy the car when it arrives 🙂
