In email discussion with Joel today, I received the following news:
“Ian. It’s been released to a carrier today, so it should be here tomorrow … but I don’t believe we’ll have the Certificate of Origin until Monday”
Then:
“I called the port and they said it should arrive between 2-3 tomorrow!
How’s that for an ETA. Have fun tomorrow and I’ll see you soon.”
But:
“If [GBMINI#3] does come tomorrow and the
CO comes in Saturday, we won’t be able to communicate with your
insurance agent until Monday. They need a copy of the CO in order to
register your new MINI… Looks like next week [for pickup]
I was hoping to be able to drive GBMINI#3 this weekend, but this annoying Certificate of Origin will prevent that – Massachusetts requires the CO to process the new car, and MINI USA is slow at releasing COs because they think that they aren’t necessary to release the car!
Hopefully the CO will follow close behind GBMINI#3s delivery tomorrow.
Separately, Scott at MINI Peabody has come up with a great scheme to make GBMINI#3 even more fun – thanks Scott 🙂
So I will probably be hanging out at MINI Peabody tomorrow 😉
So, you are saying you will be able to look, drool, admire and about anything else you want, just so long as it doesn’t leave the dealers lot? Well, at least you get that much! 😀 Congrats! Can’t wait to see pics!
Ian,
Post photos of GBMINI#3 as we all
are excited for you.
Al.
Awsome Ian. Expect to see a big smile on your face standing beside GBMINI3!!!! Congrats
Hi Ian,
Congrats on the car coming in so quickly!
It looks like we’re in the same boat (well kind of anyway). My car arrived at the dealership last Saturday (the 26th of February), but I can’t pick it up. I went down and drooled over it for about an hour on Sunday and they even let me drive it. However, I have no idea as to when I’ll be able to drive it home. It’s killing me! 🙂

Mike,
Sorry to hear that – I hope they get your car status sorted quickly; you would think since it has been going on for months now they would want to give you some quick action!
Ian you must be so excited now that it is so close!
I used the time I had to wait for my CO by getting JCW, driving lights, and autobahnd installed. I suggest you do the same. 😀
I would love to welcome GBMINI3 tomorrow as you welcomed mine, but I am stuck at work. And I’ll be skiing in VT this weekend so I can’t stop by to see it then either. But be sure I will try to see it soon!
Is there a chance you may have to choose which to bring to Fudruckers? What a horrible (-ly great) situation to be in!
Josh,
Great ideas … except the JCW is not allowed on the auto transmission, and Julian would prefer no driving lights when he works on the hood!
I am sure I will get GBMINI#3 some time next week, and since GBMINI#2 is being traded, there will not be any choice – although Margaret did recently comment that if I really hated letting go #2, I should keep both 😉
Julian would prefer no driving lights when he works on the hood!
What’s that about? How would he feel about ones under the bumper, a la DuctTape’s?
Blalor, driving lights are riveted into the hood, so they would certainly be in the way for any hood paintwork [Julian runs Sublime Restorations]
