A big “S” on the roof

I have been trying to figure the size of the “S” I want painted on the roof of GBMINI#3; over the weekend I noticed M.2 on MINI2 has a slightly similar “S” on the roof of his MINI, so I contacted him and he was kind enough to send lots of pics.

I edited one to black out his checkered roof, and alter his MINIs color from yellow to red; I decided that the “S” was bigger than I wanted, so I printed a 4×4 blow-up “poster” of Scotts design – and after much cutting-and-pasting the old fashioned way, I tried the “S” on GBMINI#3 with help from Letizia (the wind was not being helpful!)

I think the size is about right – of course the colors are wrong but Julian & Scott will have no trouble getting that right! So GBMINI#3 heads off to Sublime Restorations tomorrow to be worked on, while I am away.

  1. Actually, I kind of like the look of the black & off-black checkers on there! Or maybe gloss/less gloss.

I agree the smaller size looks better than the full roof.

  2. This looks good, While you are away, and the modifications are being done, you should see about having the folks repaint the piece of trim you got the denatured alcohol. It should be no problem for them to touchup that painted trim.

  3. Busy day at work then Ian..??!! 😉
I like the gloss & matt check roof idea too…

  4. i also like the idea of the black checker idea, with it being gloss and flat.it looks hot in the photo shoped one! also the S needs to be a touch bigger i think. somewhere between the two sizes. but its a great idea! can not wait to see how it turns out!

  5. Let’s make it unanimous, I like the black on black checkers too. The S needs to be bigger than the one you tried on the roof but smaller than the other S. Maybe something the size of one that fits on a Mini sunroof would be the right size?
