All Fives

I received my first ever MINI service survey today – presumably related to the visit after I picked up GBMINI#3, to have the “check engine” fault resolved.
MINI USA would like to thank you for your choosing to have your MINI COOPER S serviced at MINI Of Peabody on 03/31/2005. We value your opinion and strive to deliver superior service to you every time.
We hope this experience at MINI Of Peabody was a great one and would
love to hear about it from you

As ever MINI Peabody were outstanding, thoroughly checking for fault causes – I have no hesitation in awarding “all 5s” for the survey:

Also recently I had a phone survey from MINI USA, “welcoming me to the MINI community” and asking me about my purchase/pickup experiences (I tried to explain that GBMINI#3 was my third MINI but it made no difference to their pre-written speeches).

Of course again there was nothing but “all 5s” for MINI Peabody and my MA Joel Mesiti – I actually tried to award some 10s but the woman very un-humourously told me there were no numbers that high, and insisted that I say the number “5”.
I think some of MINI USA phone survey people should be given MINIs to drive for a while – it might cheer them up 🙂

  1. Ian,

Could you get them to come to LA and buy Assael BMW, in Monrovia Ca. I’m having to deal with them on: another cracked windshield, E brake, rattling moonroof and a strange rear end out of alignment or something. I.E. tires, in rear, wearing out very strange.

I think it’s time for AIRMINI ZWEI.

  2. MINI is set up with a severe rear camber – your tire wear *might* be “normal” … but when I replaced the runflats on GBMINI#2 at 20K, none of them looked worn in an unbalanced way.

  3. Ian,

This is lumpy bumpy wear stuff that you can hear when driving…..thumpy, thumpy, thumpy. My 1st set or RF’s lasted 35,000 without any odd wear.

  4. I replaced my runflats because I hit a pothole so badly that it put a huge dent in the rim…so big the tire wouldn’t hold any air (probably because the sidewall is so stiff, no absorption) and I was looking at $250 for another runflat tire, and $150 for another S-Lite rim. Rather than do that, just to have it happen again…I replaced all 4 wheels and tires with 16s and non runflat tires.

This [bumpy/bad wear] is a new thing with my rear tires. I have had 35,000 + good miles on my RF’s, original set, but I did find the mileage a bit short. I too have replaced a rim and tire from a pot hole mine ended up costing me a fortune.

My wife’s new A4 has low profile non RF tires and they make as much noise and the ride is almost as harsh. Having been involved in Off-Road racing for many years the harsh stuff seems, I guess, normal to me.

Anyway, Ian, have you talked your dealership into buying Ass-ael? They have already told me if the find a chip in my windshield they won’t fix it free. F-heads. Even though I told them that it is the same exact place as the last one they fixed for free. I’m calling the Fac-rep.

Here’s the strange part, on the morning I 1st saw the crack, my wife calls me from work……cracked windshield……same spot…….call Rod Sterling!

  6. I too am having rear tire wear that is on the inside only. Noticed it at 10,000 miles. My dealer told me tough luck and they would re-align it for $350.00. I told them to go to hell. Maybe they would also like to buy Nashville BMW MINI?
