Today Robert (known as “RB” with his regular comments here and on MotoringFile) flew in from Southern California to pick up a MINI at MINI Peabody – I happily collected him from the airport & took him to the dealership (we also enjoyed dinner at Legal Seafoods).
Robert & Joel (Sales Advisor for Robert and previously for me) sat down to check out the paperwork on the (pre-owned) MINI Robert was picking up (for his daughter).
Then outside the MINI was checked over one final time … after some last minute “hiccups” were sorted, Robert took the keys and prepared for his long drive back to the other coast:
I have “chatted” with Robert by email multiple times – it was great to enjoy some real chat time with him. I Hope his “coast to coast” journey is easy and uneventful …
UPDATE: Here’s the MINI, along with Robert’s own, in California:
Great to finally put a face to all those comments, RB. 🙂 Best of luck with the new mini (and the long trip back). Thats a long way to go for your lucky daughter!
Ok, Josh said exactly what I was going to say – great to see the face behind the remarks! You gonna put stripes on that MINI, RB??
FIRST OFF…….I gotta say thanks to Ian for in picking me up at the airport and for a lovely diner & conversation at Legal Seafood. Nice man very nice MINI. And waiting while we sorted out the “Glitch” at Mini of Peabody. Thanks Ian your a right lad.
Well I made it home in a little over 3 days. Started for home Tuesday nite, from Jon deMont’s, Mini of Peabody manager, house around 8PM, I think, and got home at 7:30 PM Friday nite. I had one stretch, Wednesday, of 17 hours and 1250+ miles.
Thanks Dension for the ICE Link-Plus iPod adapter, 950 songs. It took all of 5 minutes to hook up. It made the journey nicer.

Also Ian, I didn’t notice the MOT ball on the antenna until I woke up in Albany NY.
Very glad you made it back safely – you aren’t under any obligation to keep the MOT antenna ball installed 😉
