UPDATE:
DB has put up a list of his “top music” too …
And another list from UKPylot …
Ian,
I was sure you’d have some Tiger Lilies on there, or Crowded House? But as you said it’s just some of your list.
Nice list, knew most of them and will investigate the ones never heard of.
I’m finishing my write up on my two trips across USA in MINI’s, will send. It’s my comparison of the Cooper & S plus some pics and stuff that happened along the way.
RB
PS…….I’d like to chase Annie Lennox around a pub!
For a second I thought I was back in college when I read that subject line…
For a second I thought I was back in high school lookin’ at this playlist 😉
Nice to see another A-ha/Annie Lennox/Billy Joel fan. It’s an odd combo that can’t be beat!
Margaret & I saw Annie Lennox live here is Boston a year or so ago – she was fabulous and the location was small & perfect too 🙂
What? No music by The Soft Machine? Really!!
I must admit to watching Fraggle Rock with my kids so it was good to see them on your list. And I was a fan of Fine Young Cannibals; but, eventually, they drove me crazy.
Thank’s for sharing, Ian.
Theo
That’s funny Theo, Uh, Huh, Huh!
Checking some of these alternates …
“The Soft Machine” – seems a bit like early Genesis, with Tangerine Dreams mixed in. Never did get on with Tangerine Dreams.
“Tiger Lilies” – just plain wierd! Monty Python is normal by comparison 😉
I might get used to them …
“Crowded House” – OK. Sounds like 80s pop which I guess fits with at least some of my choices …
I love the Tiger Lilies, if ya got ABBA on there ya got POP!
No Jazz choices? No Miles, Chet Baker, Thelonious Sphere Monk, Dave Brubeck, NO MILES, Louis Armstrong, King Oliver, Roland Kirk, MJQ, Freddie Hubbard, NO MILES, Paul Desmond, Coletrane, NO ELLA, Joshua Redman…….?
Hey Ian,
What’s the newest album on your keg..? Not the one you added most recently, the one that was released the most recently and how long ago was that release date..? 😉
I’d say maybe 1/3 of that list overlaps with my collection, so I’ll try to find some of the ones I don’t know and check them out.
RB, I do have Louis Armstrong – but I hate “trad jazz” with the way the music never quite seems to know where it is going. My worst music experience is live jazz 😦
Gavin, most recent CD is Robin Barrett – some nice blues; before that was a couple of Eric Claptons …
Hmmm, by a quick count I’d say I have maybe five of the albums on your list (and four of ’em are Pink Floyd). Looks like F1 rules interpretation isn’t the only place where we disagree!
That’s alright Ricardo – we agree about the important stuff, like what car to drive 😉
