Soon after I got GBMINI#3, it threw the Service Engine Soon light a couple of times – apparently a bug with the automatic transmission interacting with the fault detection software.
At my first service, I refused a software update, having read of some negative side-effects (like “limp home”!); also GBMINI had not thrown any more faults.
Until today, that is …
Everything seems to be running correctly, so this is probably another spurious fault code – but of course I can’t be sure. Hopefully it will clear itself tomorrow; if not a trip to MINI Peabody will be needed, and I will probably have to get the software update.
Oh goody…Mine did it repeatly for the first 2 months and I have now gone 1 month free of this problem.*knock on wood*
like you ian, i was shying away from the update. i never had the ses problem so i didn’t want to fix what wasn’t broken.
but i gave in a few weeks ago and have since driven 600+ miles with the update and my car is flawless.
i suggest taking the update. they know what they’re doing!
cheers – drew
Thanks Drew – think I might have to …
The light cleared when I left work this evening, then came back on again 200yds later when I stopped 😦
Took GBMINI in to MINI Peabody today and they updated the software, among other things …
Not much on my mind these days, but what can I say? It’s not important. I just don’t have much to say lately. I’ve just been letting everything pass me by recently, but eh.
I haven’t been up to anything these days. So it goes. I can’t be bothered with anything these days.
retty much nothing seems worth thinking about. My life’s been completely dull , not that it matters. I’ve just been staying at home waiting for something to happen.
I’ve just been staying at home waiting for something to happen. Whatever. Not much on my mind lately. I guess it doesn’t bother me.
