I just heard from now EX General Manager of MINI of Peabody, our up-to-now favourite dealership … Martin was fired yesterday from the position he had from day zero, creating the MINI dealership from the ground up, and repeatedly achieving best dealership in USA. Martin was no doubt instrumental in hiring many of the rest of the excellent team too.
I have no idea what is behind this but I am concerned for the friendly future of my dealership.
I am shocked and saddened. Commiserations Martin; I hope you soon find a new outlet for your sales & management talents.
Oh No I’ll see what I can find out.
I wish I could comment, but I know nothing 😦
I was sad to hear it too.
Thanks Chapel … I see it didn’t take long for you to be asked to remove Martins name / picture from the MoP website!
That was the only thing I heard basically.
Of course, if I knew anything, I’m not really allowed to speak on it anyway. Company confidentiality and all.
As always, there is a lot more going on “behind the scenes” … I just learned that another excellent MoP staff member, Jon DeMont, was recently let go, and I get the impression that might have been some sort of trigger for this latest move.
I am re-assured that Gary King and the rest of MoP staff care as much as ever for the MINI product and the MINI community.
ATTENTION: MINI of Peabody faithful:
The future at MINI of Peabody is bright and it is still friendly. All the while, it’s been a whole team effort here at MINI of Peabody. One or two losses in management will not harm us and you can expect friendliness on the same or higher level as you continue to do business with MOP. One thing that is constant is change. We’re ready to move forward with these latest changes, and whatever 2006 brings in the future.
The strength of our product, the staff at MINI of Peabody, and most importantly YOU ALL will collectively maintain the best MINI dealership in the Country. Please be assured of this.
MOP looks forward to continued growth within and in no way without your complete satisfaction.
Thank You for your understanding and/or acceptance.
Happy Motoring…still!
That is a shock and disappointment, I’ve been summarily impressed by MoP’s performance as a dealer, it made a huge difference to me to have nothing reasonable questioned, etc.
Hope Martin’s replacement continues in the same vein, and also continues to support the MINI community as well as Martin did.
Interesting that I got my first “direct email” from MoP this week, w/ a service coupon. Wonder if the service (higher margin) revenue was too low under Martin’s time.
My experiance being in the car business for over 30 years has been Martin lasted longer than most.
This is Martin posting for the first time,if I make some etiquette mistake my apologies now.
I was fired yesterday at 3:30pm by Marshal Cabot the BMW general manager. He will take over as general manager of MINI and hire a new sales manager,I handled both jobs at MINI of Peabody.
Gary will continue to run service and Scott will contnue to run parts and as Joel says the place should not fall apart without me.
While I am shocked at my dismissal I want the entire MINI community to know how much I enjoyed the interaction with the customer base and look forward to seeing many of you at MINIs on Top.
I will be in touch,Martin
This came as a shock to all of us, I had a nice chat with Martin just last friday.
Matin I hope this isn’t the last we see of you. I hope you might join us in future MINI events…I think we’ll make an exception and let you in with that big ol’ 7 series! 🙂
Hello. Sad to hear about Martin. He hooked me up back in 2002 when Herb Chambers frosted-my-cookies and lowered my name on the list. I think it is imperative that they remained focused on their existing customers. Example: My 2002 warranty expired 1 month ago, I have had 6 problems (engine, throttle body, and God knows what) in the last month. They have all been awesome (GARY and Heather), Chris,,, I really want to trade it in today and buy a 2006 thats on the lot. I hesitate due to the 02 being a lovely nightmare. No original deals in 02 and getting a fair trade in. Also, they need to give loaner vehicles to their die-hard-customers. I hope, they keep Martin’s class and vision existing.
