On the Certificate of Origin for GPMINI the “shipped weight” is listed as 2580lbs.
The Certificate of Origin for GBMINI#3 lists “shipped weight” as 2723lbs.
So GPMINI is apparently 143lbs lighter than GBMINI#3!
And this isn’t because GBMINI is heavy either – it doesn’t have a sunroof, and was delivered on light 16″ wheels. However, it’s been pointed out that the auto transmission on GBMINI probably weighs more than a manual transmission – according to MINI USA there is 45lbs increase for the automatic, so that still leaves the GP weighing 98lbs less than a manual MCS.
See this MotoringFile post for an early 110lb proposed weight saving, and this older but less accurate MF post of 88lbs+
Thats a whole person lighter than a standard ‘S’ in many ways. I’d imagine thats a dry weight without a full fuel tank, but still significantly less than originally published.
The 98lb weight saving is much better than the UK press release “official” figures which indicate a change from 1215kg for the MCS to 1195kg for the GP (20kg = 44lb saving).
Yeah, well I am as heavy as two people, so I guess that will balance out then. I will have to go on a serious diet when I get my GP so I can out-do the doubters!
2525 for GP0223!
