I headed down to Worcester today to Petes “office” meeting other MINI owners from OceanStateMINI, supposedly to check out window tinting from a local company – but more realistically to hang out together, drive, eat and just generally have a great time (which we did very successfully!)
I did check out Petes and Audras cars, both recently tinted by Ziebart; it looked good, though not quite as perfect as Jim Smiths car:
After checking out the tint and a Ford Fairlane, Pete led us out on a drive through some nice “MINI” roads (though rather ungrippy with all the rocksalt), to Ziebart:
(and I discovered I can’t use the new camera while driving!)
With Pete’s tinted MINI “surrounded” by my GPMINI and Brians Scrat, it’s interesting to note that the (legal) tint is subtle:
Inside Ziebart, we looked at the different tint options, discussed (and saw) the application technique, and checked out other offerings (Rhino liners!) … meanwhile Pat was mesmerised by an inflatable cactus!
Time for lunch at a nearby diner – actually overtime for lunch, it was almost 2pm by the time we got served (but it was worth the wait, and the wait was very entertaining!) …
Overall, a thoroughly entertaining day! I must get out and meet these OSMC folks more often 😀
Haha… “where I keep my pickle”… good photos and write-up Ian! And yes, next time I WILL choose where we eat on my next run! 😉
Ian, awesome write up and pictures, the picture of sheenas pickle is Audra’s favorite ! We really enjoyed spending time with you,and hope we’ll get to do more of it in the future.
Looks like another fun day, out in my ‘hood’ Ian. Where was the diner (Worcester city limits)?
BTW, I recall people raving about a tinting place in Billerica, vs. Ziebert who used to be known for rust proofing cars (before they went galvanized and 10 year rust warranties); be a lot closer to you. That was a mod on my wish list :^(
I think you’ll find them on some MINI2 threads.
Chris
Sorry I couldn’t make it. To me, the tint is still too dark–did they offer anything lighter? Or did they seriously offer only one legal shade of tint?
Here’s the Billerica tint shop:
TINT KING Inc.
888-TINT-KNG
505 Middlesex Turnpike
Suite 22
Billerica MA 01821
Josh, only one legal shade.
Chris, thanks … I think I’ll skip it on GPMINI for now.
The diner was “5 & Diner”. I drive by this very chromed place in Amherst, NH I’ll have to check out; might be another fun destination.
Tint King has at least one MINI under their belt!
Billerica’s right down the road from me; maybe I’ll swing down there this week and take a peek.
That last one was supposed to contain an image: here.
Tint King is amazing. Brian did my car in December of ’02.
