MINI United 2007: a day at the races

Got up REALLY early this morning, for a coach ride to the Zandvoort track so we could have a drive on the track before the events truly open – so early in fact, they weren’t ready for us! In time, we did get to the track, with Quack Quack Jacks help …

We got an R56 Cooper to drive, complete with navigation – that knew the track layout!

After track time, we hung out at the various MINI tents, grabbed some breakfast, shopped and generally enjoyed the good weather and the many views, including a car wash!

We had great fun driving a runflat tire equipped MINI convertible with flat tire – the difference in handling between left turns (OK) and right turns (poor with the flat tire) was educational, and having no-one else on the setup left us driving round multiple times having great fun 🙂

We also visited “the beach” and had BBQ lunch, saw the ACV30 concept car (very cool) and met Gary who introduced us to Jon who we handed QQJ over to:

After that, back to the hotel, followed by MINIs and admiring Netherlands architecture!

  1. Thanks for all the documentation Ian. As usual, your pics answer a lot of my questions and give a sense of the overall experience at MINI United. Looks like the weather changes as fast as you can take a picture! Even with all the clouds and rain it still looks like some people are managing to get more sun than they need.

  2. The weather in Amsterdam is no indication of the weather at the track … MINI USA gave sunblock to everyone, but we didn’t take it with us due to the Amsterdam weather, and we should have done!

  3. That’s awesome how that Cooper had the navigation with the track layout as well!! I love the way the nav looks on the R56! Probably one of my favourite features of the R56s!
