Or maybe … “If the shoe fits, drive it”?
This very strange lenticular postcard came my way recently to add to my MINI collection; in one position it shows a Chocolate Brown MINI Clubman, while in the other it changes to a shoe, apparently an Onitsuka Tiger:
The writing on the back is not English, but it seems pretty clear to me that the graphics are explaining how the new MINI Clubman design is based on that of a running shoe.
Or maybe that’s the other way round š
I wonder if you get free shoes with every Clubman?
PS:
It’s VERY difficult to photograph a lenticular postcard!
Ian. 1st, don’t take this the wrong way, I surprised you knew the card was lenticular, 2nd, if they gave those shoes with the car I’d Opt out, unless the shoes were connected to the colour of the MINI you buy. 3rd, nice job of photographing it! The back is really kool.
Brown MINI, Brown running shoe… IDTS!
Ian – it’s written in Italian. I can decipher some of it…but its been 40 years since I lived in Italy and spoke passable Italian! š¦
I’ve only ever seen lenticular used to refer to a kind of cloud (which when I see over the mountains means I do not fly), didn’t know it was also applied to postcards.
Paul, lenticular is a printing process that mimics motion. A designer usually sends two images to a lenticular printer, one has the start image and the other has the finish point image. Once printed you can move the card to get two different images on the same card. If you look close at the top card you can see a ghost of the shoe. Fun stuff I did a few when I worked in ad agencies.
Paul, that’s funny. As a (former) glider pilot, when you saw lennies, it was time to strap on some oxygen and go get high! š I went all the way to Nevada to get some mountain wave, but instead got bupkis.
Methinks Gabe already has a pair of these…
ugh… I REALLY want a set of those Tigers, but without the MINI logo (I drive a vintage GTI afterall..)
I wonder if that badge is removable… I love weird shoes.
