I did a double-take on my way to work this morning … I had to loop round and head back to Gaybrook Garage and take another look to confirm what I’d seen – a Lotus (Ford) Cortina:
These cars were rare in England, although the regular Ford Cortina was a staple when I grew up (along with Tom Robinson!), and I had no idea the car was brought to America – although the current owner told me that very few came to USA, so maybe they were imported by individuals rather than sold here?
Anyway, this car looked in very good condition, and dragged (too old) memories – even though I never owned one myself!
Thanks, Jay, for letting me chat and take pictures 🙂
Very nice looking Cortina! One owned by Jimmy Clark sold at auction this year for over $100K US.
Ian thats quite a find… gee talk about nostalgia!
Some more info here.

In the back of my Cortina . . . . .”
I remember seeing these cars in South America. Lots of UK and German made Fords there. The early 1960’s Ford Anglia (Yes the Harry Potter car) was very popular there as well.
Holy crap.
Where in Massachusetts is that?
I’m a HUGE Lotus fan and I’ve always been a fan of their collaborations with Ford… and of course Vauxhall/Opel.
mmm, twin DCOEs on a Twin Cam 116E motor… lovely
