Since Margaret & I emigrated from England back in 1996, there have been two restaurants opposite the office (see Google Maps street view); Essex Pizza has been there, serving great pizza and subs, while next door the building (which once was “Misty Acres”, before we were there) has been Jan’s Encore, The Vintage, and more recently JR’s Route 22.
Jan’s Encore served excellent food, more expensive, but lacking a certain customer friendly atmosphere.
The Vintage (Sal’s) lacked food quality, and customers!
JR’s Route 22 inherited the Vintage food quality, and also forgot about service – especially when a quick lunch visit turns in to more than half an hour before food is served (while the restaurant is almost empty!)
So a recent renovation to The Farm Bar & Grille sounded exciting, but we wondered whether any lessons had been learned … most interesting was the BBQ theme, complete with a slow smoker out back hand-built from oil drums:

Turns out, so far, the food is “out of this world” – the only ribs I’ve ever had that literally fall off the bone, leaving them clean! Great salad too 🙂 Hoping the new, enthusiastic, owners can maintain the quality and service … the often full parking lot is a good indicator that we’re not the only ones to wish them well.
